Manuel Denzer obtains doctoral degree

On July 7th 2021, our chair member Manuel Denzer successfully defended his thesis and obtained the doctoral degree. His dissertation is titled “Essays in Applied Econometrics and on Impacts of the Digitization on the Labor Market”. In his thesis, he provides empirical applications focusing on effects of digitization on job search and the location of work but also methodical contributions to instrumental variable estimation. One chapter of his thesis has already been published in Information Economics and Policy in 2021.

Manuel obtained his bachelor's (2014) and master's (2017) degree at JGU Mainz. He started working at his doctoral thesis immediately afterwards and also became a research and teaching assistant at the chair in January 2017. In the last four years he presented his research at different conferences worldwide, was appointed a junior member of the Gutenbergakademie in 2018 and visited UC Berkeley in 2019.

Manuel is going to leave the chair at the end of August 2021 to pursue a professional career with the tech company Amazon in its London branch. We thank him for his contributions to research and teaching in the last four years and wish him all the best for the future.
