Summer School
on Advanced Econometrics
with Jeffrey Wooldridge

April 1st - 5th 2019

 

The Chair of Applied Statistics & Econometrics at the University of Mainz (Germany) is hosting a summer school on Advanced Econometrics, taking place April 1-5, 2019. Lectures will be given by the distinguished Prof. Jeffrey M. Wooldridge (Michigan State University). Besides the lectures, the summer school also includes time for participants to answer problem sets, the solution of which will be discussed thereafter.

The summer school, which is organized jointly by Thorsten Schank, Manuel Denzer (Chair of Applied Statistics & Econometrics) and Gunnar Otte (Chair of Social Stratification Research) and kindly cosponsored by the research unit “Interdisciplinary Public Policy” is targeted at (advanced) PhD students and post-docs.

Application

Please apply to the summer school by using the form below. Registration is limited to 60 persons and open until January 31st 2019. The allocation takes place on a first-come, first-serve basis. Applicants will be informed on short notice after their registration.

The general participation fee for the summer schools is 495 EUR. This covers the sessions of the summer school as well as refreshments during the day. For students enrolled at the JGU Mainz or staff from the JGU Mainz the participation fee is 150 EUR which will be fully refunded if the students / the members of the staff participate at each session of the summer school. For students enrolled in the Graduate School of Economics, Finance, and Management (GSEFM) of the universities Frankfurt, Mainz and Darmstadt, the participation fee amounts to 150 EUR.

Venue

The summer school will take place at the center of the campus of the Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz, i.e. the buildings of the Faculty of Law, Management and Economics.

Travel Information

In general, we recommend you to travel by public transport, since the parking capacities at the campus are limited. Information concerning traveling by public transport is offered by the Deutsche Bahn.

 

Arrival by public transport from Mainz main train station (“Hauptbahnhof”)

After leaving the main exit of the main train station ("Hauptbahnhof") you will find a tram stop straight ahead (A in the PDF-File). From there, take line 51 (tram) into direction "Lerchenberg". Exit at "Universität" (which is the second stop). An alternative is line 53 (also Tram) which leaves from point L in the PDF-file. The exit and the direction are the same as with line 51 "Universität". Tickets can be bought at the ticket machine or from the driver ("Kurzstrecke"). Further information is provided online by the Mainzer Verkehrsgesellschaft..

Arrival by public transport from Frankfurt Airport / Frankfurt main train station

Use the S-Bahn S8 (Direction: “Wiesbaden”) or any other regional train from the regional train station, i.e. Regionalbahn (RB), Regionalexpress (RE), stopping at Mainz central station (“Mainz Hauptbahnhof”). Then follow the instructions from above.

 

Arrival by car

The most convenient way is to park at the Parkplatz Bruchwegstadion (Dr. Martin-Luther-King-Weg,
55122 Mainz; free of charge) and to walk to the campus (roughly 5 minutes to the summer school venue).

 

 

Credit Points

There will be no assessment at the end of the summer school. However, we can provide you a confirmation of participation.
