Viktor Bozhinov obtains doctoral degree

After the successful defense of his thesis on  16th of April 2019, Viktor Bozhinov obtained the doctoral degree. In his dissertation entitled “Women on Boards: An Empirical Analysis of Role and Effects in Germany” he analyzed the prevalence of women in senior supervisory board positions and established the existence of a second glass ceiling in German supervisory boards. Moreover, he studied the link between the gender composition of the supervisory board and the presence of women on management boards. In addition he studied the effect of mandatory policies promoting women on boards on the stock prices of German publicly quoted companies.

Viktor studied political science and economics at the Johannes Gutenberg University between 2007 and 2013 and started to work at the Chair of Applied Statistics and Econometrics in March 2013. After visiting courses in the PhD program at the Graduate School of Economics, Finance, and Management (GSEFM) between September 2013 and October 2014, he started to work on his thesis. In 2016, he obtained a 3-year scholarship from the Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation. After 12 years at the JGU,  Viktor Bozhinov is going to leave at the end of August 2019 and starts working in the private sector at ]init[ AG.
